Sixth Street – Commercial Roof Replacement
This Burnaby commercial flat roofing project was performed in the Summer of 2018. The old torch-on roof was replaced with a brand new IKO Diamond shield torch-on roof system complete with a custom sloping package to eliminate areas with standing water and a base layer of insulation to improve the building’s overall R-value. Warranty was especially important to our client therefore IKO Industries provided their Diamond Shield upgrade which extended the material warranty to a more comprehensive 15 years. - Reroof Process: We manage the complete removal and responsible disposal of existing roofing materials, ensuring a clean and efficient process.

The IKO Diamond Shield System
We installed the IKO Diamond Shield Roof system, a superior roofing solution known for its durability and UV resistance. This complete roof system was designed with integrated vapor barrier, sloping kit, ISO insulation, Protectoboard, and IKO Cap/Base sheet. Each component ensures maximum performance and longevity. This particular installation is backed by the IKO Diamond shield 15-year warranty, which offers peace of mind against manufacturing defects, making it ideal for both new construction and roof replacements.
Products Installed – Key Features:
- IKO MVP Vapor Barrier: A self-adhering membrane designed to be installed before the roof system, acting as a barrier to stop vapor.
- Type 1 EPS Sloping Insulation: A rigid insulation that provides an efficient thermal barrier and proper sloping to the roof system for good drainage.
- IKO Protection board: Protectoboard was mechanically fastened and provides rigid support for the attachment of roofing membranes. It also adds additional fire-resistance.
- IKO Torchflex 180 Base Layer Field: Features a reinforced polyester mat with glass fiber strands, coated with SBS polymers and premium asphalt. It has a micro-perforated film that melts during heat welding for seamless application.
- IKO Torchflex 250 Cap Layer Field: Features a reinforced polyester mat with glass fiber strands, coated with SBS polymers and premium asphalt. It has ceramic-coated mineral granules for UV protection.
